Wine of the Week: Earth 3.0 Organic Red

Earth 3.0 We aren’t firmly stuck on organic foodstuffs.  The official organic label has, to some extent, been subverted by political wrangling by corporate interests and the typical limitations on authenticity born out of policy designed by a committee. For us, it’s all about Natural. We look for growers and producers that are doing everything they can to use care and attention to render the healthiest and most tasty food.

We are ever so happy that wine, good wine, is now available from natural and organic vintners. Without compromising any part of the wine experience, you can now enjoy rich, robust pours from organic grapes and natural processes.

This week we want you to know about Earth 3.o Red.

The winemakers of Earth 3.0 strive to live in harmony with the land. Producing wine made from organic grapes; they believe that keeping the planet healthy is just as important as making great wine.

Earth (or Tierra) 3.0 Red has a bouquet of tropical fruit with touches of nut and marzipan; fun pineapple and melon flavors  on the palate. Cocoa notes persist over a backdrop of dark cherry in this rich, medium body organic wine.

Music This Weekend: Rachel Wearsch & Yonder Blue

Rachel Wearsch

Rachel Wearsch

Friday, July 2: Rachel Wearsch and the Beatnik Playboys

http://www.myspace.com/rwearsch

As I’ve mentioned before, it is a fortunate tragedy that for you and I that we can see Rachel and her band for free in an intimate location like Vine and Bean. Her voice has the sweetness of angels, the power of Athena, and the gravitas of long hours spent in smokey joints selling hard liquor.

Saturday, July 3: Yonder Blue Duo

Amy Fish

Amy Fish

Amy Fish and Mitch Tobol from Yonder Blue making some great Bluegrass, Newgrass, fun music. Amy and her troupe were long time fixtures and community favorites at Cafe Limbo. We have coaxed them to come on back and make us smile again.

If you’re smart, and I know you are, you’ll come for brunch, lurk around  the Larchmere Festival for a few hours and then come on back for dinner, some cool refreshment and an evening with Amy and Mitch.

Music This Week: Troubadours of Divine Bliss, Kean, & Gene

We have three big shows for you at Vine and Bean this week, and as long as nature sticks with us, they will all be in the beauty and splendor of our garden patio.

Thursday, June 24: Troubadours of Divine BlissTroubadours of Divine Bliss

We are so delighted that the Troubadours of Divine Bliss have made us a regular stop on their never-ending tour. As most of you know, there shows are always super fun, super engaging, beautiful, and full of, well, bliss.

For the as-of-yet un-exposed, the Troubadours are a duo out of Louisville, Kentucky who have won many awards, played all the big festivals all over the world and still can be seen up-close for a little while.

Aim Me Smiley sings  lead vocals and plays guitar while Renee Ananda sings harmonies and plays accordion. While their playing is always intricate and tasty, it’s their harmonies that win my heart every time I see them.

There website is promising “Songs, stories & Steph under the stars!”

Friday, June 25: Kerry Kean

Kerry is touring in support of his most recent recording, New River Guitarism.

FolkWorld put it like this:

Kerry Kean’s album (New River Guitarism) stays primarily in the well-known territory of modern easy-listening compositions for finger-picked guitar, with smooth melodies and harmonies. An up-tempo version of the classic fiddle tune “Red-Haired Boy” with well-crafted improvisational passages alters the otherwise characteristic sound of the album. A strikingly beautiful rendition of the John Dowland piece “Flow My Tears” seems to bring out the best of Kean’s guitar playing, matched only by his original piece “After the Harvest”, for which Kean won the 2008 Kent State Folk Festival talent contest.

Saturday, June 26: Gene’s Jazz Hot

Gene brings back the quartet for some musical magic under the stars.

Come swing on the patio!
